VICTORIA, BC (July 19, 2007) – Ann and Gordon Baird sit on the built-in benches of their new living room inside their half-constructed dream home made of cob, a centuries-old building technique using clay, sand, and straw, near Victoria, BC. Their non-toxic earthen house will be equipped with solar panels, radiant floor heating, wind generators and a green roof to filter rain water. (Photo by Deddeda Stemler for Adriana Barton story)
